Halloween in Eureka Springs 2026: A Whole Month, Two Saturdays

Two Saturdays, One Actual Halloween

Most towns get one Halloween night. We get most of a month, and people still manage to show up the wrong Saturday.

The full run of Eureka Springs Halloween events, in order: Voices from Eureka’s Silent City starts on October 15, 2026 and runs five evenings through October 23, the Nightmare in the Ozarks film festival opens the week of October 21, 2026, Zombie Crawl takes over downtown on October 24, 2026, and Halloween weekend itself, October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026, closes the whole thing out.

Two of those dates stand out a little more than the rest. Zombie Crawl on October 24, 2026 brings a parade at 6 PM downtown, makeup stations from noon to 6 PM at Basin Spring Park, and a free Thriller dance lesson from noon to 2 PM for anyone willing to learn the choreography in public. Halloween itself falls one week later, on October 31, 2026. Thank you, 2026, for giving us Halloween on a Saturday. How fun is that? October is the busiest month of the year here, and both weekends bring the crowds downtown. Two different Saturdays. Two different nights out. Make sure you know which one you want before you book anything.

Which Weekend You Actually Want

If you want the spectacle (the parade, the costumes, a town that goes all in on the bit), that’s the 24th. Thousands of people, hundreds of them technically undead, all in-scene, all shuffling around, looking for “braaains.”

That weekend really deserves its own spotlight and I cover the whole thing in a separate Zombie Crawl article.

If you want the actual holiday (trick-or-treaters on the sidewalk, jack-o’-lanterns on porches, a low-key spooky vibe), that’s October 30th and 31st. After Zombie Crawl weekend lifts, the decorations are still everywhere, and you get a classically charming little Victorian town on the one night of the year built for it.

Regardless of which weekend you pick, I think Eureka Springs is one of the best places you can be in October.

Eureka Springs Halloween Events

The Film Festival

The Aud (our City Auditorium downtown, and nobody here calls it anything else) hosts the Nightmare in the Ozarks Film Festival October 21 through 24, the same week Zombie Crawl closes out. Almost a thousand seats: 984, split between the main floor and balcony, in front of a 26-foot screen.

The New York Times calls it one of the top five Halloween film festivals worth traveling for. That’s their line, not mine. I haven’t personally ranked anybody’s festival list, but 984 seats and a screen that size in a century-old auditorium is pretty cool whether or not the Times said so. Check the festival’s site for this year’s lineup and badge prices. Those move enough that I won’t guess at them here.

The Cemetery Tour and More

Voices from Eureka’s Silent City is the cemetery tour where costumed locals stand among the headstones after dark and tell you about the actual people buried there. It’s a fundraiser for the Eureka Springs Historical Museum and runs on select days in October. Tours depart about every 20 minutes from 5:30 to 8:30 PM and last roughly an hour. Park at the shuttle lot off Highway 62 and take the free trolley from there. Check the museum’s site for this year’s nights and ticket prices before you build your evening around it.

Beyond the cemetery, downtown has its own lineup. Hidden Eureka: A Downtown Walking Tour starts daily at 4PM and runs 75 to 90 minutes. Intrigue Theater offers Paranormal Experiments on limited dates from July through October. Haunted Eureka Springs runs a 90-minute Downtown Walking Ghost Tour from the courthouse steps, and Escape Room 13 is there if you’d rather be chased by a clock than a ghost. Check each official site for current dates, times, and tickets.

And if Ermilio’s is part of the plan, make it dinner before the evening’s event. They close at 8 PM and still won’t take your reservation, so plan for the wait. It’s worth it anyway.

You Don’t Have to Wait Till Halloween

Eureka Springs October events don’t actually need Halloween to justify the trip. An earlier trip will still put you here during the front edge of fall color season. Shops are open. Galleries are open. Live music is still going. People call this town magical in roughly every fourth sentence anyone’s ever written about it, myself apparently included. Fine. It’s deserved. In October specifically, it means limestone steps that are actually comfortable to walk in cool autumn air, a town that smells like woodsmoke instead of sunscreen, and downtown doing its normal thing. Then, as the month goes on, things get progressively stranger after dark.

Parking Is The Whole Reason to Think About Where You Stay

Downtown parking on either big Saturday gets tight quickly. That’s not only a Halloween problem; it’s an any-big-Saturday-in Eureka Springs problem. Worth knowing before you’re circling Spring Street in a werewolf mask looking for a spot.

Each Cliff Cottage Inn suite includes one reserved off-street parking spot. The window runs from 11 AM on the day you arrive to 2 PM on the day you leave, so you can pull in hours before check-in and leave the car in place after checkout. Park once, walk down the 17 steps to Main Street, and don’t think about the car again until you’re ready to go home. The walk is the same 17 steps whatever month it is, but in late October, they’re framed by gold and rust hanging off the hillside above the blue house.

Late October also happens to be a very good time to remember that Zelda’s Studio has the property’s only private outdoor hot tub. By the end of a cold October evening downtown, that starts to sound pretty good. Have a look at the suites, then decide which Saturday is yours.
