Getting to know Henry David Thoreau

Henry David Thoreau was a writer, philosopher, and naturalist who left an indelible mark on American culture and society. His belief in individualism, self-reliance, and simplicity has inspired generations of thinkers and activists to pursue a more sustainable and just way of life. Thoreau's influential work "Walden" helped to establish the environmental movement. Thoreau’s pamphlet called “Civil Disobedience” has been cited by both Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King as being one of the most influential pieces of writing for their thought process on civil disobedience and nonviolent resistance.
