Spring Is Busting Out All Over

Everyone is beginning to unwind from the many fun events of Mardi Gras in Eureka Springs. Our little village really outdid itself this year, with costume balls, art exhibits, a parade and many local businesses featuring Mardi Gras-themed specials. Guests at Cliff Cottage Inn were able to walk from their luxury suites directly downtown to all the best venues.

Now March promises the advent of springtime. Eureka Springs will soon be ablaze in color as the spring bulbs kick off our annual display. Cliff Cottage Inn features over 2000 multi-variety daffodils “tossing their heads in sprightly dance”. Our Inn guests love to sit on their decks and porches, savoring this riot of color that develops with the warming spring days.

For movie buffs, “The Pianist” will be the featured film on March 4 at the Keels Creek Winery, located on Highway 62 west, just a few minutes drive from Cliff Cottage Inn. This is a great chance to sample our fine local wines, and see a very  gripping film  set in Warsaw during the Second World War.   Winner of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival Palm d’Or award, “The Pianist” also received Academy Awards in 2002 for Best Actor, Best Director, and best writing. For more information, call 479-253-9463.

March 10 will find our village playing host to the 30th Annual Victorian Classic, a Eureka Springs-style marathon featuring a 10-k run, a 2-mile run, and a 2-mile walk. This well-attended annual event is held for the benefit of  local charities. Following the run (or walk, or stroll) participants and spectators alike can refuel the inner athlete  with a delicious variety of soups at “Souper Soup”, where local restaurants donate their best soups to this worthy cause, which is sponsored by the Eureka Spring Historical Museum (right across from Cliff Cottage Inn). “Souper Soup” takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Eureka Springs High school cafeteria, located  on highway 62 across from Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. Tickets are $6.00 and you can choose from 12 different varieties of soup. The meal also includes cornbread, beverage and dessert.

To complete an exciting day on March 10, the annual Clear Spring Fling Auction will be held at the romantic Castle Rogues Manor, a spectacular piece of local architecture located in Beaver, Arkansas, just 15 minutes from our Inn.  The auction benefits the Clear Springs School. Tickets in advance, $15 or at the door, $20. Tickets and more information at: www.facebook.com/clearspringflingauction.

Visitors will want to stay around on Sunday, March 11, for a charming evening of music at The Aud on Main, Eureka Springs’ wonderfully restored downtown theater and first-rate music venue. Guests at Cliff Cottage Inn need only walk down 17 steps to Main Street, turn right, go half a block and they will find themselves at the front door of The Aud. The evening’s performance, “We’ve Got Talent”, will benefit Opera in the Ozarks. The concert will take place from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
